About My Forge
Inherting the tradition and embracing the present, to preserve the art and soul of the Japanese sword.
Im Ron Chen, a sword smith from Taiwan,I studied under Yoshindo Yoshihara sensei,founded my forge in 2014 to provide custom made Japanese swords services.
Originally, the Japanese sword was created as a weapon. Today, it has become the artistic craftsmanship. Every part of the blade embodies the wisdom and aesthetics of the ancients, preserving techniques honed over a thousand years. It carries a rich history and refined skills that have been passed down through generations an awe inspiring cultural heritage. With my passion at heart, I hope to promote the culture of the Japanese sword in Taiwan, and contribute in my own way to the preservation of this cultural legacy shared by all humanity.

Custom Order
Before starting the customization process, it is necessary to understand some basic data, like the blade length and handle length, as well as the most important factor: the choice of steel. I offer two types of steel: Tamahagane and SN490 structural steel.

Tamahagane
The forging method is called Kobuse forge, forged in the traditional way, usually is for high end collection or display purpose.
SN490 Structure Steel
SN490 is a alloy structure steel which is that same steel used in the construction of buildings that’s resistant to earthquakes. After a special heat treatment, it has more then twice the edge retention and resistance to deformation, However, it is forge in mono steel so the blade surface lacks the traditional Jihada grain, though this does not affect the Hamon performance, It is highly suitable for customers who engage in extensive cutting practices.
